FieldREG Experiments

Summary:

To briefly summarize this section of the web page:

  1. An experiment was designed to assess whether or not a group “consciousness” was capable of affecting physical systems.
  2. Intention experiments discussed in the previous section suggest that individuals can have an influence, bonded pairs an even greater influence. Hence, the question how about a group.
  3. The experiment uses a Psyleron Random Event Generator (REG-1), same device used for intention experiments. The REG-1 is a portable device (pocket-sized) making it easy to transport to and from events.
  4. The REG-1 produces a statistically perfect and unpredictable output based on the fundamental properties of quantum mechanics.
  5. Unlike the intention experiment, FieldREG experiments are more permissive and relaxed in not requiring a given direction (e.g. high, low, or baseline). Instead, any deviation from the mean without regard for direction is studied.
  6. FieldREG passively monitors environmental backgrounds. Venues that have been studied so far according to the PEAR publication “FieldREG Anomalies in Group Situations”:
    • Religious or secular ceremonies and rituals
    • Individual or group therapy sessions
    • Business meetings
    • Sporting events
    • Professional conferences
    • Any other group convocations that might include periods of unusually cohesive cognitive interaction, creative enthusiasm, or other forms of emotional intensity.
  7. To the extent that it could be measured, these effects appeared to be independent of distance, and possibly even time.
    • “One test of this radical hypothesis would be to remove the FieldREG unit from the assembly area to some remote location while still dedicating its operation to the group event.”
    • “Extensions of the tests to ‘off-time’ protocols invoking temporal as well as spatial displacement could also be considered, but here the problem of indexing the output traces for correlations with sequential features of the meeting could become very difficult.”
  8. No one fully understands what is responsible for creating these effects, including the researchers (aka operators) themselves.
  9. The effect of intention or a “consciousness field” can be very difficult to study scientifically because there seems to be a correlation with the subjective character of the group interaction that can not be controlled.
  10. All indicators suggest that we will need to broaden our understanding of science and the physical world in order to fully explain and accommodate this empirical data.
  11. Psyleron’s goal is to continue conducting research in this field and to provide home users and researchers with their own REG devices and software so that they can explore and experiment with these and other effects.
